Definition of
hemorrhoids:
It means the
removal of enlarged veins at the anal area. The hemorrhoids surgery
can be made using laser, cryosurgery, old
surgery techniques and video.
Hemorrhoids surgery
maybe simple, complicated with or without dangers depending
on the surgery techniques used. Sometimes, it remains the
necessary way to handle the disease.
Be assured that cost
differs depending on the pre and post complications and
surgery.
Description of
hemorrhoids:
Hemorrhoids are
enlarged and swollen veins, called varicose veins, near the
anus and are usually caused by increased pressure, such as
straining when constipated or during pregnancy. When they
are situated outside the anus they are called external, and
when they are inside- they are internal. Results and
symptoms from hemorrhoids can be pain, bleeding, clots, and
itching. One of the main causes is constipation and
straining.
Techniques and
conditions of hemorrhoids surgery:
Laser surgery is not
often used in hemorrhoids surgery. Other techniques are more
popular. The fact is when patient and people are sedated and
free from pain the hemorrhoids can be removed surgically.
The one way is local or spinal anesthesia, and the other is
general anesthesia, when the patient is asleep and free from
pain. When the swollen tissue, called hemorrhoid, is
removed, then gauze packing is put to stop
bleeding.
If the hemorrhoid is
small, it could be banded with small rubber band, placed
around the base of the hemorrhoid. Then the hemorrhoid
tissue dies and falls off from the absence of fresh blood.
The other way in such situations is to inject the hemorrhoid
with sclerosing (sclera or hardening) agent. The effect is
the same. In these cases the procedures are outpatient or
office, they can be done with minimal or no
anesthesia.
Indications of
hemoroids surgery:
When non-surgical
treatment, such as fiber-rich diet, laxatives,
stool-softener, suppositories, medications, warm baths, do
not heal the hemorrhoid, then comes the necessity of
removal. Such cases appear when:
(1) Thrombosis of the hemorrhoids- when blood
clots constantly form in external hemorrhoids
(2) Ligation does not
help in cases of internal hemorrhoids;
(3) The swollen tissue
of the hemorrhoid has not been cut in
size with medical
treatment
(4) uncontrollable
bleeding
5)Persistent
itching
6) Pain
7)Infection
Risks linked to
hemroids surgery:
Risks from taking
anesthesia:
"
Medical reactions
"
Breathing problems
Risks for any surgery
are:
"
Bleeding
"
Infection
Narrowing the anus can
occur as additional risk
Expectations after
hemorrhoids surgery
In most cases the
outcome is very good. Measures must be taken to avoid
recurrence. Such preventatives can be adherence to a high
fiber diet.
Convalescence post
surgery - recovery:
After the surgery the
anus tightens and relaxes, which may lead to considerable
pain. In this situation pain-relieving medications may be
used. Stool softeners are useful when avoiding straining.
Also when bowel movement or urination, straining must be
reduced. To take a warm bath may help. In two weeks period
can be seen full recovery from an hemorrhoids
surgery.
